Visiting the Newly Renovated Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point

There are so many amazing things to discover here in northeast Ohio. The Lake Erie shore in Sandusky is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen. I’m rediscovering that area now that I have kids of my own. Cedar Point is fast becoming one of our favorite day or overnight destinations – the newly renovated Hotel Breakers is fantastic.

It’s no secret that our family likes to get out and experience new things… We are on the go as often as we can be, embracing this lifestyle of lifelong learning, and finding adventures along the way. The amazing thing is that the majority of our adventures take place only a short drive away from the greater Cleveland area where we live.

Recently we had the opportunity to check out the newly renovated Hotel Breakers with an overnight stay and a day at the theme park. Times have changed since the first guests arrived there 110 years ago, but the charm, attention to detail, and friendly staff is still true to the original vision.

While Cedar Point’s coasters are always a hit as I love the thrill of the hills, it was the hotel that left me speechless on this visit. The details of the newly renovated Hotel Breakers guest rooms are so fun. My kids liked the nostalgic beach pictures hanging throughout the room, but they really loved the giant rollercoaster-themed headboards that our room sported. Such a fun idea.

The rooms are wonderful for large families like mine. Two big beds in a room that closes with shutter doors, a foldout sofa bed, and a sweet little kitchen area with a mini fridge, microwave, and sink. For you caffeine addicts like me, plan ahead. There wasn’t an in-room coffee pot, but since I travel with my small one-cup Keurig, it didn’t matter. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, so you can get your fix downstairs in no time at all if you don’t travel with a coffee pot like I do.

And that lobby… Wow! They did such an incredible job redoing it.

We loved the rotunda with its hanging lights and the gallery walk with park photos. The kids enjoyed the television area, and sat happily watching Finding Nemo while the adults checked in.

The star of the hotel is the outside patio, though. The beach and Boardwalk have always been a draw, but they’re stunning now. We visited right before the season and the opening of the outdoor pool, but my kids can’t wait to come back. The pool is kid-friendly and fun, the beach is inviting with rows of chairs and umbrellas waiting, and the fire pit.

Oh the fire pit.

The fire pit is huge, and so inviting. Just off the beach, and on the patio outside the bar and Starbucks, it’s the perfect place to spend the evening with family and friends.

My kids enjoyed looking around the hotel, walking on the beach, playing in the sand, and swimming in the pool so much that they almost would have been okay if we would have skipped going to Cedar Point.

Almost.
