STEM Learning for Tech-Loving Kiddos | Osmo Genius Kit

“Mom! May I play on the iPad?”

I hear some iteration of this question all day from different children each time. The kids share an iPad Mini and love it. Frankly, I do too. I just wish we had a couple more so we could spread the love when I need a few minutes of silence. See… I’m not a mom who loathes screen time. I am a mom who loathes mindless screen time, though.

The apps and accessories we have for the iPad Mini are far from mindless, so I enjoy having my kiddos stretch their creative muscles using it.

The newest tech tool and accessory kit we are LOVING for the iPad Mini is the Osmo Genuis Kit we got from Best Buy. The Genuis Kit is award winning and comes with FIVE amazing apps — Words, Tangram, Newton, Masterpiece, and Numbers. It also comes with a camera reflector, base, and tangram, letter, and number tiles.

There are so mant things to do between all these apps to foster creativity and problem-solving skills. No passive video game playing with this kit. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and STEM products (like this Osmo Genuis Kit) encourage kids to develop core skills in these areas. Best Buy carries products from basic learning games to advanced toys designed to stimulate a child’s mind in the STEM areas, helping to develop logic and problem solving skills.

Seriously, there are so many great STEM toys to choose from. Honestly, though, I’m hooked on this Osmo system and can’t wait for the kids to try out the other extension sets like Coding Jam, the Coding Game, and the Creativity Kit.

The kids (all of them, from the 4yo to the 14yo) were excited the second we took the Genuis Kit out of the box, and were fighting over who would get to play with it first. The littler kiddos loved solving the tangram puzzles and the big kids had so much fun playing the words game — especially when they decided to play against each other.

All in all, the Osmo system, particularly the Genuis Kit will be getting a lot of play for years here at our house. If your kiddos like combining STEM learning with problem-solving and technology, this could be the perfect gifte for them. Head over to your local Best Buy store and check it — and the huge selection of STEM toys — out. You won’t regret it.
